Welcome
Welcome
We are a group of friendly like minded people that have or had hepatitis C. Some of us have been through treatment and cleared the virus, some of us have not been so lucky. Some of us are just supporters or carers. We provide emotional support from people that understand what it is like to have hepatitis C.
We welcome all nations and all people including newly diagnosed, people on treatment, non responders, family and friends and of course Doctors, Nurses and anyone from the medical profession.
The Nomads is an educational forum where people planning on starting treatment can come and learn about treatment, how to prevent side effects and how to maximise their chances of achieving treatment success. Non responders or those not wishing to go down the treatment route can learn options for re-treatment or how to care for their liver.
We provide current information on new HCV studies, new drugs and HCV issues. Studies are there with accredited scientific trial or study papers or links to these studies.
We provide nutritional information as all new research points to the fact that insulin resistance is a major obstacle in obtaining SVR.
We work closely with The British Liver Trust and The Hepatitis C Trust, we value the work done by local support groups and thus we provide space for those groups that wish to join us and use us as a tool to communicate with their members. We have a list of local support groups throughout the UK so you can meet like minded people. We also provide links to other liver disease sites.
Hepatitis C is a blood borne virus and it attacks the liver. Sometimes it can take many years for the symptoms to show themselves. It can be treated and it can lead to liver disease if left untreated such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.
